Result Policy

At Forest Hill Family Clinic, your health and safety are our primary concerns. We have implemented systems to ensure that all pathology, radiology and other investigative tests are promptly acted upon and results that need discussing are communicated in a timely manner. Here’s what you can expect regarding the communication of your test results:

  • Your doctor will discuss with you during your appointment how your test results will be communicated.
  • Most results will be conveyed via SMS, indicating whether no further action is required (meaning you are to continue your current treatment plan) or prompting you to schedule a follow-up appointment.
  • In cases where additional action is necessary, such as ordering further tests, you will receive an SMS or a phone call from our reception team advising you to schedule a follow-up ‘Recall’ appointment with your doctor.
  • In urgent situations, our reception team will contact you directly as soon as possible after receiving the results to discuss the next steps.

Patient Initiatives:

  • If you require further information or wish to discuss your results in detail, you are welcome to call the practice and request a phone or in person consultation with your doctor. Fees apply.

Access to Results:

Did you know that you can also access your results securely through My Health Record, Australia’s national online health record system? To set up and access your My Health Record, please visit My Health Record setup link.

Forest Hill Family Clinic is committed to preventive care. We offer a reminder system for immunisations, cervical screening tests, blood tests and other preventive health services appropriate to your care. You may be contacted via our secure messaging system via SMS, letter or phone call. If you do not wish to be part of this system, please advise our reception staff.

Communications Policy

At Forest Hill Family Clinic, we are committed to timely, respectful, and secure communication with our patients. This policy outlines how we manage telephone calls and electronic communication.

Telephone Communication

  • Our reception team is available during clinic opening hours to receive telephone calls.
  • Urgent calls will be transferred immediately to a doctor or nurse.
  • Non-urgent messages will be recorded, and staff will return calls as soon as practicable, usually within one business day.
  • Please note, clinical advice is generally not provided over the phone unless determined appropriate by your GP.

Electronic Communication

  • The clinic may use email or SMS for administrative purposes only (e.g., appointment reminders, recalls, and notifications).
  • Email is not a secure medium. We recommend patients do not send confidential or sensitive medical information by email.
  • Clinical information and test results will not be sent via email unless specifically discussed and consented to with your doctor.
  • Electronic enquiries are monitored during business hours and responded to within two business days.

After-Hours

  • For urgent medical care outside normal hours, please contact our afterhours service 13SICK, or dial 000 in an emergency.
